The Hook, not to be confused with the famous Captain Hook, the hook is the shot that brought down more boxers ever. Ask Joe Frazier, he has knocked out opponents with his left hook.
This shot is as devastating and so difficult to perform, and I speak not only on a technical level.
We try to understand the reason: first it is a circular shot requiring elevation and rotation of the shoulder girdle, then has a short range and therefore should be exploded from short distance. At longer distances, it is very difficult to be able to give strength and precision, not to mention that going and losing the balance the opponent will have a substantial advantage in the strike.
The arm movement, then must be accompanied by the rotation of the pelvis in order to use the energy expressed by legs and finally the impact should occur with your knuckles.
In the world there is a pugilistic how diatribe must be brought on suddenly, there are teachers who teach their students taking it so that the thumb is facing downwards, who instead with the thumb facing up, and still others no to rotate.
Personally I think the important thing is run it so permitted by avoiding regulations so the inside hand (rough bar brawl style) or the back.
On one thing we can all agree, should be powerful and precise.
How to run??? Given that the starting position is always on call, with slightly parallel feet (especially if we are fighting hand-to-hand, from short distance) I run a small counterclockwise rotation of the trunk and taking as reference the arm perform a circular motion upwards (imagine your elbow is drawing in air letter C). At this point I Rotate clockwise in trunk and shot explode trying to maintain an angle of 90° between the arm and forearm.
Change the degree of angle can jeopardize the success of the coup. If it increases you risk being too slow and exposed to the attacks of the opponent.
Now that you understand how the stroke, energize, face or body does not differentiate the important thing is to go and sign!!!
