BCAAS: branched chain amino acids

Branched-chain amino acids are one of the most popular supplements not only in the sports landscape, but in the entire world of physical well-being.
This is a compound made up of Leucine, isoleucine and valine, which are part of the so called essential amino acids, that is, not synthesized independently by human body and therefore must be found in outside sources.

Use on very large scale is to bind to multiple functions of this supplement that has both plastic function (i.e. acts as a “brick” for our muscles), but also energy function. In addition, the rate of absorption (small intestine directly reach the muscles), represents a jolly in the field of integration.

The use of BCAAS is versatile, can be used before training just to preserve the protein substrate of our muscles (the guidelines recommend an intake at least 60 minutes before exercise for the purpose of obtaining complete assimilation), but also during or after the activity to stop or at least slow down catabolic processes.

There are different types of products. The most common formula on the market sees them in a relationship 2:1: 1, where the Leucine is greater than the other two components. This property seems to be optimal from the perspective of both the absorption of compound that limiting the breakdown of muscle tissue.
There are also different forms of the compound, with increased doses always Leucine, but however, there are no studies to confirm in some way more anabolic effects or significant improvements in the uptake of the same product.
