Those who started practicing yoga, often stumbles in the Hata Yoga — a collection of positions, asanas, exercises and breath control, prânâyâma, who are meant to improve the psycho-physical balance giving the opportunity, to those who practice it, to achieve a greater awareness of themselves, through the knowledge of our body, but also of the world around us.
However, there is only this type of yoga, but there are many others! All types of yoga positions, through breath and mantra, help to resurface the vital energy, kundalini, which is within us. Especially Kundalini yoga, is a type of tantric yoga, which adds to the practices of Hata yoga also chanting and meditation that awaken the life energy of the spine (muladhara chakra).
Widespread in the West is Iyengar yoga practice: developed by BKS Iyengar, was a revolution in the history of the practice because, using different mediums such as pillows or bricks, allowed everyone, even those who have physical problems, to practice asana drawing all benefits of yoga, thanks to a special focus on body alignment while performing.
The Raya yoga, then, is opposed to the Hata yoga as it is a predominantly meditative discipline, mental and static. Its literal meaning is real Yoga and relies primarily on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, with the goal of elevating man to God through meditation.
These are some types of yoga … but there are so many, each with its own characteristics, but all with one purpose only: human well-being, by reconciling him with the universe!
All you have to do is choose! 🙂
