Who says yoga says … Padmasana, Lotus position

The Lotus pose, padmasana, is yoga position, what you see in the movies, in newspapers and in photographs: sitting with your legs crossed and your back foot resting on thighs. Although it seems simple to take and maintain this asana is not so straightforward, and its fame is due to the fact that very often is used for meditation.

The Lotus position allows you to close some energy channels bringing us to assume a position that pyramid puts energy and, in particular, the vital energy throughout our body without disturbances.

With a little practice and a lot of perseverance on the benefits of the Lotus position arrive and feel! What are? It’s one of the positions to be taken because meditation calms the mind. It is suitable for women (relieves menstrual pain, eases childbirth), relieves the pain of sciatica, but also extends ankles and knees. It also stimulates the pelvis, it helps to assume correct posture for your spine, abdomen and stimulates the bladder.

But how does the Lotus position? Firstly you have to sit on the floor, on the mat, with your legs stretched forward (if you want you can also use a pillow to make it less strenuous position). The first step is to bend your right knee, bringing it into the Groove of the elbow of right arm and holding the foot with the left hand which will support him on the inside left groin.

The same movement will be done at the right, bringing your left foot on the right thigh. At the beginning just a few seconds and, gradually, you can lengthen practice! And hands? You can put them into Jana mudra, leaning to the right on the right knee and the left hand on the left!
