The movements in boxing: studs, shifts and rotations

Move in boxing means placed outside the opponent’s attack axis, i.e. perform a movement (lateral or sideways) to come out of its sagittal plane. A boxer who is unable to move, is a very limited because Boxer is unlikely to be able to get out of difficult situations and often will be closed on the ropes or in corners of the ring.
Obviously this isn’t just talent, you will have to train it is nonspecific, that is specifically that make both their gestures of boxing’s condition (in terms of neuro muscular) body. It will be good so take a good starting position, to guard and have good footwork before learning to perform the movements.
But what are these movements in boxing? The answer we can sum it up in 3 voices:

  • Travel and semispostamenti
  • Rotations and pins
  • Change of guard

The first two the difference is very simple, if one foot moves and the other remains still speaks of semispostamento if both are involved then it is a shift. From the stance you can move both laterally and diagonally, the basic rule is NOT to CROSS your feet.

Figure 2
Figure 2

Look at the figure 1, the fighter on top to make a side exit to the right (the opponent in this case is going to put a direct left) will move to first the back leg and then the front to avoid crossing your legs and losing so the equilibrium.

Figure 2 to come out sideways by a straight right the footwork is exactly the opposite.

Figure 3
Figure 3

These are just two examples of the many combinations that are there for outbound movements, you just need to edit the guard is everything changes, and the same happens if the opponent has a guard equal to us or the opposite.
Between rotation and pins the difference we can summarize it depending on if one foot is taken as fixed point or not, in the first case we talk about pivot otherwise is a rotation.
The PIN must be made carrying weight on the ball of the foot that remains fixed (Figure 3), lifting the foot engaged in the rotation.              At the end of your journey you need to find the position of guard but moved to an angle between 45/90°. The shot is effective if exploded with both feet placed on the ground, hit while you rotate as well as being very difficult and with a high probability of losing your balance, it is still much less powerful. To be more clear, imagine a compass, where the rod with the needle is fixed and what is the leg that turns the wheel.
Move around the opponent, hovering means rotate which can be walking parallel if our intention is to increase the distance of combat and come out completely due to the possibility of getting hit, or small steps run always on guard but with a location a little more front.

Regarding the changing of the guard is still a movement that I personally consider an outgrowth of those described above. Here’s the explanation: If we look at the Boxer in Figure 4 we see that by performing a right foot pivot automatically is in the opposite guard, guard change occurred as a result of the movement of the PIN.

Stand still means to become a sitting duck, take shots and miss the meeting, so if in doubt MOVE!!!

“The fighting is a matter of movement.
It’s about finding a target and avoid becoming a target ”
